Alun Armstrong is an English character actor who was born in the year 1946 July 17 at Annfield Plain, County Durham, England. He is active in the acting arena since 1971 till present. Alun Armstrong became first interested in acting through Shakespeare productions at his grammar school. He made his screen debut in the year 1971 from the movie Get Carter. He appeared in number of movies afterwards. He usually played in supporting roles in the movies. He can be seen in small roles in the movies A Bridge Too Far (1977), Krull (1983), Patriot Games (1992), Braveheart (1995), The Mummy Returns (2001), Millions (2004), Oliver Twist (2005) and Eragon (2006).
Besides appearing in movies, he has also appeared in more than 80 different roles in the television productions in the course of his career. He has been playing in television since 1971. To mention some of the television appearances, he appeared as Brian Lane in the BBC’s New Tricks. He is well known for his acting in this series. He has appeared in Little Dorrit as Jeremiah and Ephraim Flintwinch, Garrow’s Law as John Southouse, etc. His recent work in television as of 2014 is as Vincent Brand in Penny Dreadful series. In addition to his work on television and movies, he has been active in theatre productions as well since 1971. She has appeared in several of the theatre productions starting from David Storey’s play “The Changing Room” and Christopher Wilkinson’s I Was Hitler’s Maid starring as Billy Spencer and Adolf Hitler respectively on the play in 1971. To mention some, he has appeared in Dracula, Bastard Angel, The Tempest, Les Miserables-The Dream Cast in Concert, The Front Page, My Fair Lady, etc and the most recent one is Family Voices Victoria Station.
From the works of Alun Armstrong, it is proved that he is a very versatile and talented actor. He had won the Laurence Olivier Award for the Best Actor in a Musical called Sweeney Todd. Alun Armstrong, aged 67 years old, is a married man. He is married to Sue Armstrong. He has three sons with his wife Sue named Joe Armstrong, Tom Armstrong and Dan Armstrong.
