The news anchor of Al Jazeera America, Richell Carey is a television personality. She has been able to set an image that her viewers love. The former news anchor of HLN, Richelle has worked for many other news networks and channels during her career. One of the well known media personality of America, Richelle is the news correspondent of Prime News. Before working in this news network, she worked at KMOV-TV in St. Louis, Missouri. She joined KMOV-TV in 2006. After having worked there for seven years, Carey left the channel in June 2013.
At the beginning, she was an intern at KPRC-TV. Like many other famous journalists she was then offered the position of an associate producer. She then began her career as a journalist as a morning and afternoon news anchor in Las Vegas, Nevada. At this news network-HLN, she covered stories on victims of violence, women and children. She interviewed people like Mary J. Blige, Chaka Khan and Janet Jackson at the same time. She anchored a show at a channel in Henderson which was affiliated to Fox News. Richelle is known for the news coverage in Texas of Fort Hood. She joined Al Jazeera America in 2013.
Richelle went to Smith College in Massachusetts for her Bachelor. She then transferred to Baylor University in Texas and completed her Bachelor degree from the same university. Richelle graduated with a major in telecommunications from Baylor University. She is affiliated to other organizations too. She is the VP of the Board of Directors of ‘Men Stopping Violence’ and a board member of Girls Scout of Greater Atlanta. Because of her hard work and dedication in the field, she has been awarded with a number of awards. She has been presented with an Emmy Award for reporting consumer features at KMOV. Houston Association of Black Journalists awarded her the award Emerging Journalist.
She dedicates her time to people who are in need when she is off from work. Her mother is a nurse who works with teenagers in poverty stricken neighborhoods. Inspired by her mother, she takes part in several programs as such. She is also an advocate of teen girls and women. She is very concerned about women’s rights and hence, advocates it. Also, she works on issue like sexualization of young girls. She is not only a young new anchor who has covered issues like women violence but she is also one of those responsible citizens who fight against such social evils.
