Early Life And Childhood Of  Luka Modric

Luka Modric was born on 9th September 1985 in Zadar, SFR Yugoslavia. Luka is the son of Stipe Modric and Radijka Modric. His father is an aeromechanic and his mother is a housewife. When he was six years old his family was forced to flee the area due to the Croatian War of Independence. During the war, his father joined the Croatian army.

Modric belong to Corsian nationality and regarding his ethnicity, he has a mixed ethnical background. He spent most of his early childhood days in a fear of several racist and terrorist organizations. Previous insurrection Log Revolution also executed his grandfather Luka near his house in Modric.

After became a refugee, Modric started living with his family in the Hotel Kolovare and spent a seven-year there. In these difficult circ u mstances, he started playing football, mostly at the hotel parking lot and he considered Zvonimir Boban and Francesco Totti as his role model too. 

Luka Modric's Professional Career 

 Luka Modric signed his first long-term contract with Dinamo for ten years in 2005. In the 2005-6 season, he netted 7 goals in 31 matches helping the club to win the league too. Again in 2006-07 seasons by making similar contribution Dinamo won the league.

In his six years tenure at Dinamo, Modric scored 31 goals and provided 29 a s sists in four league seasons.  On 26th April 2008, Modric transfer to Tottenham Hotspur. He signed a six-year contract for a fee of £16.5 million in summer of 2008. On 28th July 2008, he made his first debut for Tottenham against Norwich City. Two days later he scored his first goal for the club in 1-5 against Leyton Orient.

By concerning the manager Harry Redknapp, Modric was given central or a left-sided midfielder. Modric was injured during the Tottenham’s 2-1 win against Birmingham City on 29th August 2009. After a day, it was confirmed that he had broken his leg. After the recovery, he returned to training on 31st October 2009.

Modric made his start in Premier League for four months in London derby against West Ham United. He made an agreement signing a new six-year contract that will run 2016 on 30th May 2010. Modric scored his first goal of the seasons 2010-11 on 11th September 2010. Modric gained impressive attention from the manager of Tottenham after the draw against Manchester United at White Hart Lane in 2011 January. He also scored a winning a goal over Stoke City in 3-2 on 9th April 2011. He also helped the club to reach its first involvement in the Champions League.

In 2010-11 seasons, Modric played 323 Premier League games scoring 3 goals. His first goal of the season was on 18th September for Tottenham, in 4-0 against Liverpool. His last goal for the club was on 2nd May in 1-4 against Bolton. On 27th August 2012, it was announced that Modric signed a five-year contract with a Spanish Club: Real Madrid.

After a couple of days, Modric made his debut for the club FC Barcelona. Due to his lack of pre-season training, he struggled to settle under the manager Jose Mourinho. Modric scored his first goal for the club on 3rd November in a 4-0 victory over Real Zaragoza. Modric’s most notable game was on 4th December in a 4-1 victory against Ajax in Champions League.

Modric scored his first goal of the season in Champions League against F.C Copenhagen. His first goal of the Spanish league season in 3-0 against Getafe CF. He won 2013-14 Copa del Rey with the club. In December 2017, he also won the 2017 FIFA Club World Cup with the club as well as became Golden Ball winner. He registered his first 2017-18 season goal in a 7-1 victory against Deportivo. 

Luka Modric's International Career 

Luka Modric made two appearances as a substitute during the 2006 FIFA World Cup in the group fixtures against Australia and Japan. After meeting new manager Slaven Bilic, he earned greater recognition at the international level.

On 8 June 2008, Modric scored his first goal for his nation converting a penalty in the fourth minute of their 1–0 victory against Austria.

Modric was also named UEFA Man of the Match. He was included in a squad for Croatia in Euro 2012, 2014 World Cup, and Euro 2016. He played one of the vital roles throughout the 2018 FIFA World Cup campaign and helped them to reach to the final of the tournament. Unfortunately, they could not win the World Cup after they were beaten 4-2 by France in the final. He is a recipient of the Golden Ball.
