James Martin is a British Chef and television personality from Malt, England. He is best known for BBC cookery series and TV personality.

At the tender age of 16, Martin went to Scarborough Technical College to begin his formal training where he was the student of the year for three years running. James' work was noticed by Antony Worrall Thompson, who brought James to London to work. He then traveled throughout France serving in the kitchens of French châteaux.

When he was 21, James established the new Hotel and Bistro du Vin in Winchester. Meanwhile, as head chef, Martin changed the menu every day. Martin's career started in 1996 when he became a regular team member on Ready Steady Cook. James went on to present Saturday Kitchen and has appeared in dozens of TV shows as well. Martin, 43, prefers going to his restaurant and cooking too.

Martin first appeared on screen in 1996 with programs including James Martin: Yorkshire's Finest, Ready Steady Cook, and The Big Breakfast. He co-presented BBC Food's Stately Suppers with Alistair Appleton. Later, he appeared on the Channel 4 program Richard & Judy, where he would visit those members who had been nominated to be cooked a 'comfort food' meal. From 2006 until 2016, he presented the BBC One show 'Saturday Kitchen'.

In 2007, James featured in a BBC Two series named 'Sweet Baby James' in which he focused on desserts, puddings, and cakes. The show 'Eating with the Enemy' filmed by Martin was broadcast in July and August 2008. In September 2011, James was a s signed with revamping the menu and catering facilities at Scarborough General Hospital, for Operation Hospital Food for the BBC.

Since the year 2013, James has been a judge on Junior Bake Off on the CBBC channel. In February 2014, he presented a series called James Martin: Home Comforts on BBC One. In October 2014, Martin hosted a new daytime show for BBC One called Meet the Street.

In 2015, he made the guest appearance on numerous episodes of The One Show with Alex Jones. A year later, James appeared as a guest on an episode of This Morning with Ruth Langsford. In the beginning of January 2017, Martin presented his own daytime ITV series called James Martin's French Adventure.
