American music artist, Paul English, who worked for musician and singer Willie Nelson for decades, has died. The legendary drummer was 87.

Nelson's representative confirmed English died on Wednesday, 12th February 2020. Nelson's representative, Elaine Schock, provided no further details regarding his death. However, it's been reported that English had been suffering from pneumonia.

In Nelson's autobiography, It's a Long Story: My Life published in 2015, he has described English as:

wild, street-smart Paul ...who always had my back and got me out of more scraps than I care to recall.

English was born on November 6, 1932, in Vernon, Texas. English was 23 years old when he started playing drum with Willie Nelson in Fort Worth. However, he only became Nelson's regular drummer since 1966. Before he became the regular drummer for Nelson, English worked with a couple of drummers, including Delbert McClinton.

English was famously known for wearing an iconic black cape on stage. One of his capes is currently put on display at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in the "Outlaws and Armadillos" exhibit.
