After about two years of separation, Fraser and Smith's divorce was finalized in 2009. Smith demanded $900,000 per year, however, the divorce was settled after the actor agreed to pay $300,000 per year for child support. The alimony was huge for the actor since his estimated net worth at the time was around $45 million.
Fraser later claimed to decrease the $50,000 monthly alimony he was obliged to pay in February of 2013 explaining he wasn't getting enough offers to afford spousal support fees.

Smith, however, filed back and claimed that The Mummy star is earning enough for alimony payments and hiding his money. The actress further stated the alimony will decrease only if Brendan earned less than $20 million per year.
The actor denied hiding money. He explained he lost his money on 'medical issues' as he suffered from a 'debilitating' back injury during the devastating Hurricane Sandy in 2012.
