At Least Five Dead And 21 Were Injured After A Motorist Opened Fire In Random Shootings On Saturday In Odessa, Texas.

Police had reported that at least five people were dead and around 21 were injured when a motorist opened fire in a random shooting on Saturday around Odessa, Texas.

Among them, the three injured were law enforcement officers; a state trooper, a Midland police officer, and an Odessa police officer. Chief Michael Gerke, in a news conference, said that the day was a horrific one for Odessa.

A senior law enforcement official openly discussed about the case whereas the spokesperson for the Texas Department of Public Safety claimed that the shooter had a rifle which may be  .223 AR-15 style weapon.

Officials also tried to determine whether the shooter had other weapons on him or not during the incident or at his home.

Michael reported that the attack took place at 3:17 p.m. traffic stop between Midland and Odessa when he reached the spot in a gold Honda. As the suspect started firing, one victim was shot at east Loop 338 and Interstate 20.

The suspect continued west to Odessa, where he killed multiple people. He then kept attacking at innocent civilians all over Odessa.

The shooter then ditched the vehicle and took a U.S. Postal vehicle to a local movie theater, Cinergy, where a shootout with law enforcement from different agencies took place.

Odessa police reported that the active shooter was shot and killed at Cinergy in Odessa.

White House communications official said that President Donald Trump was briefed about the attack and had been monitoring the situation.

Midland police firstly said that they believed two suspects were firing from two different vehicles.
