Wayne was born on June 2, 1972, in Columbus, Georgia. He is an American belonging to the Afro-American ethnicity. He was brought up by his grandmother in Florida.
He started acting at the young age of 16 whereby he performed at a community theater as well as the SAK Comedy Lab. Before enrolling at the University of Miami, he studied at the Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando.
Wayne’s career debut was in the improvisational theater British version of the show Whose Line Is It Anyway? in 1998. He won a Primetime Emmy Award for his performance in the show in 2003.
His next endeavor was hosting his very own show The Wayne Brady Show from 2001 to 2003. For this too, Brady won two Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Talk Show Host.
Brady played the role of lawyer Billy Flynn in the Broadway revival of Chicago in 2004. He has guest-starred in Reno 911!, Stargate SG-1, and Chappelle’s Show as well.
