Illinois Plant Explosion: Two Killed, Three Injured While Two Other Remain Missing

At least two people died and three others injured in a ma s sive blast in an Illinois Silicone Plant Friday night. Two more people remain missing, reported authorities. The missing are presumed dead, however, rescuers are still trying to find them out.
Police reported the blast occurred at AB Specialty Silicones in Waukegan, around 40 miles north of Chicago. Cmdr. Joe Florip, a Waukegan police spokesperson, told the explosion hit the manufacturer at about 9:30 on Friday night when the plant was still open.
CNN reported the authorities weren't able to continue recovery efforts until they brought in equipment to dismantle the unsafe structural remains. One was found dead inside the factory whereas four others were rescued with several injuries and taken to local hospitals.
Waukegan Fire Marshal Steven Lenzi told one of the victims of the explosion died at the hospital Saturday afternoon. Lenzi further said the explosion made damages on the properties that roughly worth $1 million. Moreover, it affected at least five other nearby buildings.
The fire was doused by Saturday morning. The state fire marshal and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) have been a s sisting the investigation; however, the cause for the explosion has not been revealed yet.
