Gabriela’s junior career

The beautiful player Gabriela was a teen tennis star in the mid-1980s. She started to participate in the tennis championship since 13 years of age. In 1983, she participated in the world junior tennis circuit.

There, she became the youngest players to win the ‘Orange Bowl Girls 18 singles’ tournament. Following year, she became the number one junior tennis player in the world. After being in the number one position, she felt she would move to the professional career.

Gabriela’s senior career

In 1985, Gabriela turned professional and participated in the Circle Magazine Cup where she beat top-ranked players.  Later, she became the youngest player to become the semi-finalist of French Open. However, she got defeated by Chris Evert.

After that championship, she was ranked within top 11 players all over the globe. In 1986, she reached the semi-finals of Wimbledon but could not reach in final. She ended the year being ranked within the top 10 position.

After two years, she won a silver medal in ladies single tennis at the Summer Olympics, won the Virginia Slims Tournament and became the runner-up of the U.S. Open grand slam. In 1989, she was ranked number three but she could not win U.S. grand slam.

The year 1990 was one of the greatest years for her because she won the U.S. grand slam that year, which was her dream since her young age. Then, she retired from her professional career to focus on her fragrance business, in 1996.

Gabriela: A business woman and writer

Apart from a tennis player, she is also a businesswoman. In late1980s, she launched a line of fragrances in collaboration with German perfume Company Muelhns. Since then, she has released 19 perfumes and the new one was released in 2015.

Gabriela has kept her signature in products; named Gabriela Sabatini. Gabriela’s perfumes are primarily for a woman and include two scents for men- Devotion and Wild Wind. Likewise, she has also published her autobiography titled ‘My Story' in 1994.
