Sting and Imagine Dragons Honored for Their Achievement at the BMI's 67th Annual Pop Awards

  • Sting won the Most Performed Song for Every Breath You Take.
  • Imagine Dragon won the Top Performed Song for Thunder and Whatever It Takes. 

Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner CBE AKA Sting and Imagine Dragons were honored at the BMI's 67th Annual Pop Awards this Tuesday night, May 14, 2019.

Sting received the award for his band The Police's song Every Breath You Take which was deemed the Most Performed Song at the songwriters' ceremony that took place at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel

The Fragile singer also gave a cla s sical acoustic performance on Tuesday. Sting was the songwriter, lead singer, and not to mention, the ba s sist of his band The Police for around 7 years from 1997 to 1984. A year later, in 1985, Sting started his solo career. 

Trudie Styler, Sting's wife, while talking about the Pop Awards said, 

I am so deeply proud to be a member of this community of songwriters. There's a rare nobility in this profession that is more than just mere entertainment, and I believe it has something to do with the form of a song. 

In addition to Sting getting honored, the band, Imagine Dragons also received an award Tuesday night. The band won this year's BMI President's Award! Their song, Believer and Whatever It Takes were also named as the top performed songs of 2018.

Imagine Dragons have sold over 12 million albums and 35 million singles worldwide. And not to mention, they have also tried their hands in philanthropic works as they raised over $8 million to fight childhood cancer. 

The band performed It's Time, Radioactive, and their most performed song, Believer on stage.
