Adam Schlesinger, the singer for 'Stacy's Mom,' has died after testing positive for the novel coronavirus. He was 52.

Josh Grier, an attorney for the Fountains of Wayne co-founder, confirmed his death news, saying that Schlesinger pa s sed away on Wednesday, April 1.

The lawyer said on Tuesday, March 31, that the musician was "very sick and heavily sedated," adding that he had been in a hospital in New York for more than a week.

Schlesinger is survived by his two daughters, Sadie and Claire, who he shared with his ex-wife Katherine Michel, a graphic designer. The former couple had tied the knot in 1999 and got a divorce in 2013.

Schlesinger was widely known for his work for Fountains of Wayne. He had also written tracks for film, television and the stage.

He was nominated with numerous awards throughout his career, including a Golden Globe Award and an Academy Award, for his songwriting in Tom Hanks’ 1996 musical comedy film, That Thing You Do!

Hanks and his wife are also diagnosed with COVID-19.
