American actress and director Sonja Sohn, who is widely known for appearing as the role of Detective Kima Greggs on The Wire and Detective Samantha Baker on Body of Proof, has been arrested on drug charges.

As per reports obtained by TMZ, on Sunday morning, Sonja was arrested in North Carolina for the possession of cocaine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.

The marijuana and paraphernalia possession charges will be cla s sified as misdemeanors, whereas the cocaine possession charge would be cla s sified as a felony. The authorities have reported that Sonja was taken to the police station at around two in the morning.

Sonja posted a $1,500 bail and then released six minutes later. She is now set to be arraigned for these charges on Tuesday.

Sonja, who came into the spotlight for appearing in the role of Detective Greggs on all the five seasons of The Wire, now appears as Laverne on The Chi. The arrest news adds extra drama surrounding the hit shows.

Besides this, Jason Mitchell, playing the role of Sonja’s son was dropped from the show after following sexual a s sault accusations.

Several women, including Tiffany Boone, accused him. Jason was subjected to an HR training program, eventually forcing Showtime to cut the ties with the actor.
