Skylar Diggins is an American professional basketball player for Dallas wings of the Women's National Basketball Association. 

Early life and education

Skylar Diggins was born on 2nd August 1990 in South Bend Indiana. Diggins is the daughter of Tige Diggins Renee Scott and step-daughter of Sarah Diggins and Maurice Scott.

Diggins also has three younger brothers named Tige, Destyn. and Maurice and one younger sister named Hanneaf. Diggins was very interested in sports as she grew up playing softball ball.

Diggins joined Washington High School in South Bend Indiana. She was a four-year starter and three-year team captain at Washington High School.

Career

Diggins career began when she started playing for high school when she finished her career with 2,790 points as the third highest girl scoring total in Indiana history for an average of 25.9 points per game.

During those times, She led the Panthers to state championship games, including Washington's title winning season of 2007.

Diggins was Gatorade Indiana Girls Basketball Player of the year twice. She was also named as a WBCA All-American, also was a McDonald's All-American section.

After her high school, as a freshman, Diggins became fourth Indiana native to join Irish roster in the year 2009-2010, as she was one of three Miss Basketball honorees on 2009-2010 Notre Dame roster. She also set the records for steals, free throws made and free throws attempted.

Diggins professional career started in the 2013 WNBA Draft where she was drafted 3rd overall by Tulsa Shock. After her perfect score in the game, she was named to All-Rookie Team. 

She also had a breakout year in 2014 WNBA season and as named WNBA all-star for the first time. On 28 June 2015, Diggins suffered a torn ACL with 44 seconds left in a regular-season game.

Diggins played on Team USA at the 2011 World University Games held in Shenzen China. The team won all six games to achieve a gold medal. Diggins was the third leading scorer on the team with 68 points. In Sep 2015, she got a sad news that she didn't make the World Championship.

Personal life

Skylar Diggins currently engaged to her longtime boyfriend Daniel Smith, a former Clay High School, and Irish receiver. After dating each other as boyfriend and girlfriend for a long period of time, Diggins got engaged to her long-time boyfriend on 20 June 2016.

Later in April 2015, they finally decided to get married, since then they are spending their married life in joy as Skylar changed her name into Diggins-Smith.
