Six Including Four Children Killed In Indiana House Fire

by Joey Jordan,

Six people including four children died after a house fire in Logansport, Indiana on early Wednesday, 28th November.

The authorities received a call for the fire at around 1:50 a.m. on Wednesday morning in the 4300 block of Pottawatomie Road.

The Ca s s County Fire Lieutenant Steve Krispen said that the law enforcement officials arrived on the scene first where they rescued two adults, however, six other people including four children were still there inside the house.

Krispen said,

It's pretty numbing when initial dispatch is telling us people are entrapped in the structure and they're saying multiple people.

The fire crew also tried to get inside to rescue the others, but they couldn't as over 80% of the house was covered in fire. Reports say the house is in a rural, non-hydrated area so the firefighters had to carry the water there to battle the flames. They were out of water within five minutes and they had to wait until they got more water to fight with the blazes.

Additionally, the freezing temperature in Logansport made it more difficult to fight with the fire. The crews are still trying hard to detain the fire and take the remains of the victims out of the house. Lt. Krispen said,

We're probably going to have to wait until daytime and stuff to get heavy equipment in here and make sure the structure is safe enough for us to go in there and do recovery of the individuals that are in here.

Lt. Krispen, who has been working with the fire department for the last 35 years told that it's been one of the toughest days of his career.

The sheriff's department said that there was no fire alarm wailing at the scene when they arrived there.
