Shihab Rattansi

Shihab Rattansi is an experienced television broadcaster who is currently serving Al Jazeera English. He has been active in the broadcasting profession since 2000. Prior to working at Al Jazeera, Shihab served CNN for eight good years. He is also known for being the brother of broadcaster Afshin Rattansi. Career

Shihab Rattansi is currently serving Al Jazeera being based in Washington D.C. presenting news and conducting interviews in the program Newshour. He has 16 years of experience in journalism. He was the primary presenter on the program Inside Story Americas from 2011-2013. Prior to working at Al Jazeera English, Shihab served CNN for eight years as an anchor based in Atlanta, Georgia. He was the anchor of World News, Insight, Your World Today, Global Challenges, CNN Today and World News Asia.

With CNN, Shihab Rattansi presented the breaking news stories of the capture of Saddam Hussein, 2004 Tsunami, 2005 London bombings, the death of John Paul II and many others. He served Channel NewsAsia based in Singapore covering Indonesia’s turmoil involving the fall of Suharto.

Awards and Achievements

For his outstanding presentation, Shihab Rattansi has been awarded Native American Journalists Association’s TV Best News Story and TV Best Feature Story. Shihab Rattansi was also the winner of 2006 Alfred I. du Pont-Columbia University Award.

His father is an emeritus Professor of History and Philosophy of Science at University College, London. It is where; Shihab also got his degree in art history. His brother Afshin Rattansi is also a broadcaster who worked for CNN, Al Jazeera, BBC, and Bloomberg.
