36-year-old American tennis star Serena Williams has done something which we can only imagine of. Just 10 months since she gave birth to her first daughter, Williams made her way to the Wimbledon Final.
Williams thrashed German tennis star Julia Görges 6-2, 6-4 in the Wimbledon semifinals on Thursday, 12th July, making her way to the 10th Wimbledon Finals; 30th major final.
The former world number 1 will play against Angelique Kerber at the Center Court, Wimbledon on Saturday, 14th July for a record-equaling 24th Grand Slam. Despite playing only fourth major tournament after her comeback she is the favorite to win the Saturday's final.
Williams, who gave birth to her first daughter Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. in September, told after the semi-final,
This is not inevitable for me. It's no secret I had a super tough delivery. I lost count after, like, four surgeries because I was in so many surgeries. There was a time I could barely walk to my mailbox.
She continued,
It's like, come on guys, this is pretty awesome. To hear people say, 'Oh, she's a favorite'-the last 16 months, I've played four tournaments and was carrying another human half that time. It's interesting.
The final will be a rematch of Wimbledon 2016 where Williams beat Kerber in a straight set of 7-5 and 6-3. However, this time, the scenario is different, the former world number one is just taking a baby step and Kerber is a more refined player than the last time.

Just fourth tournament into her comeback, Williams herself hadn't thought she would go to the final. She said,
I was expecting a few more baby steps myself. Again, I've said it all week, this is only my fourth tournament back. [But] Every time I go out there, I want to I guess take a giant step forward, keep taking giant steps, but keep improving.
Williams gave birth to her daughter Alexis Olympia Ohanian on September 1, 2017, with her husband and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian with whom she tied the knot on November 16, 2017, in New Orleans. Williams delivered her baby through cesarean-section. Following her delivery, she suffered several complications due to which she had to undergo three further surgeries.
