Sarah Silverman Comes In Support Of Louis C.K After Sexual Misconduct Allegations

Speaking of Louis C.K. on her show ‘’ I love You’’ on Hulu, comedian Sarah Silverman bluntly questioned, ‘’ Can you love someone who did bad things?’’

Louis C.K confirmed allegations of sexual misconduct against him last week in a statement saying, ‘’these stories are true.’’ He responded to a story in New York Times which stated accusations from five women, they said C.K masturbated in front of them without consent. 

Silverman’s sister, Laura Silverman, accused C.K. of masturbating in front of her. After the story became public, Laura took to Twitter where she said C.K masturbated ‘’about 20 times’’ in front of her during a road trip cross-country, before becoming famous. 

She called his actions, ‘’ Not criminal. But compulsive, rude & gross.’’ 

However, Sarah Silverman did not acknowledge accusations from her sister in her monologue. She instead compared the hoard of sexual accusations coming to light recently with ‘’ cutting out  tumors.'' She said,

It's messy and it's complicated and it is going to hurt Silverman said. But it's necessary and we'll all be healthier for it.

Silverman also added,

Some of our heroes will be taken down, and we will discover bad things about people we like, or in some cases, people we love.

The comedian was talking about C.K- they have been colleagues and friends for decades now. Silverman often appeared on Louis C.K’s show, ‘’Louie.’’

Sarah Silverman took her monologue ahead saying,

One of my best friends of over 25 years, Louis C.K., masturbated in front of women. He wielded his power with women" in messed-up ways, "sometimes to the point where they left comedy entirely. I could couch this with heartwarming stories of our friendship and what a great dad he is, but that's totally irrelevant, isn't it? Yes, it is.

Silverman continued by saying, ‘’I love Louie. But Louie did these things. Both of those statements are true."
While the comedian questioned if she can still love her friend ( Louis C.K) after everything he did, she answered that by saying the thought could wait and that she hoped it was okay that she was angry for the women he wronged and sad for her friend. 
Another comedian, Marc Maron, offered a similar way of support on Monday on his podcast. He said, 

Louis copped to it, and he copped to it late. But he did it. And he's my friend, and it's a difficult position to be in because I certainly can't condone anything he did. There was no way to justify it. There's no way to defend it. ... There's no way to let him off the hook.

Maron also mentioned that he had heard the rumors before and even asked C.K about it, be he apparently denied.
