Maxim Dadashev pa s sed away after four days suffering a brain bleed in a brutal fight against Puerto Rican opponent in Maryland.

On Friday, the 28 years old fighter underwent surgery to remove the right side of the skull after the bout but died on Tuesday morning.

After suffering a subdural hematoma, he was left in a medically induced coma. He was competing in a 140-pound world title eliminator against Subriel Matias at MGM National Harbor.

Subriel gave Maxim repeated blows to his head before his trainer Buddy McGirt abrupt the fight following the 11th round. He struggled to walk out of the ring and later collapsed before leaving the arena. His condition got worse and started vomiting losing consciousness.

Maxim was then rushed to the hospital in Washington where emergency surgery was performed to remove the relieve swelling in his brain. He suffered excessive bleeding and showed signs of severe brain damage.

Maxim’s strength Donatas Janusevicius confirmed the news on Tuesday.

Donatas was with Maxin at UM Prince George Hospital Center in Cheverly since he was rushed to the hospital. He said:

My mind is like really running crazy right now. Like, what could I have done differently? But at the end of the day, everything was fine [in training]. He seemed OK, he was ready, but it's the sport that we're in. It just takes one punch, man.

The Russian Boxing Federation announced that they had opened an investigation into the death of Maxim.
