American actor Elmore Rual Torn Jr. AKA Rip Torn, better known for appearing in Cross Creek, The Larry Sanders Show, and Men in Black, pa s sed away at the age of 88.
The Associated Press confirmed that Torn died peacefully at his home at Lakeville, Connecticut. The representative reported that his wife Amy Wright and his daughters Angelica Page and Katie Torn were by his side.
Rip Torn, who was born on 6th February 1931, made his movie debut in 1956 film Baby Doll. Torn then went on to study at the Actors Studio in New York under Lee Strasberg. In 1959, he appeared in Sweet Bird of Youth and movie Pork Chop Hill.
Torn was the one who introduced his cousin Sissy Spacek to the entertainment industry.
Since debut, Torn had appeared in numerous movies and television series like Extreme Prejudice, Beer, Canadian Bacon, Senseless, Wonder Boys, The Sisters, Happy Tears, Bee Movie, Ghost Stories, Will & Grace, Columbo, April Morning, and more.
Torn had received nine Emmy nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actor in Comedy Series for The Larry Sanders Show in 1993.
