Richard Palmer

Richard Palmer is an entrepreneur, innovator, and engineer, best known as the founder of the company named D3o Lab. He has won numerous awards for his work in his career. 

Early Life 

Richard Palmer made his career debut as Head of Consultancy &Senior Lecturer at the University of Herts in 1992. He led and developed the commercial consultancy for the Design & Engineering department.

Richard Palmer ran a large number of projects using the facilities provided by the university and expertise with several clients including Mata Marconi, Du Pont, and Textron.

Educational Details

Palmer attended the Royal College of Art in 1997, where he studied industrial design. There, Richard Palmer developed his skills and creativity at the RCA projects that included developing an award-winning cafe table that focused on social inclusion, by allowing users to more comfortably control their position at the table.

Palmer then moved to the Imperial College in London. Richard Palmer completed his educational career with a degree in MA (RCA) Design and B.Eng (Hons), first-class Mechanical Engineering & Diploma in Engineering from the college.

Won the Times & Gestetner Digital Office Award

Palmer built a studio with 2m high desks and chairs and is featured with many innovative designs. The design can be seen in the book Office,

which later won the Times & Gestetner Digital Office Award, competing against entrants such as Ted Baker and Sainsbury.

Early Career

He continued his project working on different inventions that are usable to the public. He became CEO and Founder of D3o lab in May 2002.

In this process, he invented an amazing, soft material that contains intelligent molecules that lock to absorb the impact.

Later named it D3o

Richard Palmer later named it D3o, a polyurethane energy-absorbing material consisting of several additives and Polyborodimethylsiloxane (a liquid substance).

Many sports brands including popular brands like Puma, The North Face, Scott, Head Burton, CAT, and Spyder support D3o for their production. The product has been an elemental part of the market strategy and is sold in more than 50 countries. 

Became Chief Resident Entrepreneur VP Global 

He became Chief Resident Entrepreneur VP Global at Idea Couture Inc. in May 2011, where he launched the London operations to provide a base for EMEA consultancy services for the company.

Richard Palmer researched, approached, and negotiated a merger with an established boutique consultancy in London, that includes Pepsi, Tesco, VF Corp, Bata, and Cisco Systems.
