Rajdeep Sardesai

Rajdeep Sardesai was born on 24th May 1965 in Ahmedabad. His father is Dilip Sardesai.  His father was a test cricketer and mother is Nandini Sardesai, his mother is a social activist in Mumbai and has served as a head of the Department of Sociology at St. Xavier’s College in Mumbai.

Rajdeep Sardesai studied at Campion School in Mumbai and continued his ISC in Cathedral School Mumbai. He completed his bachelor degree from St. Xavier college in economics, he went to University College at Oxford and got his Bachelor of Arts degree, Master of Arts degree and Bachelor of Civil Law. He also represented Oxford University Cricket Club in county cricket and played seven matches as a batsman in 1987. He was an active member of Christian church choirs.

Personal life

Sardesai was married to Sagarika Ghose who was an Indian author, news anchor and a renowned journalist.His wife Sagarika Ghose had been a journalist since the year 1991 and worked at The Times of India, The Indian Express, and the Outlook Magazine. They have got two children,  Ishan (son) and Tarini (daughter).

Career in journalism

Rajdeep Sardeep has served The Times of India for a period of six years as a journalist. He was the city editor of the Mumbai edition.It was 1994 when he entered in the field of television journalism as a political editor of NDTV.

He worked as the managing editor of NDTV India and NDTV 24X7 and held the responsibility of overseeing the news content, format and programming for both the channels.

”The Big Fight” at NDTV was brought by Rajdeep as a presenter in partnership with the American giant CNN and TV18 he started his own broadcast house named ‘Global Broadcast News’ after he left NDTV, and Rajdeep Sardesai was made the Editor-in-Chief when The latter (TV18) and Turner International India joined together to form CNN-IBN in 2005.

Net worth

Rajdeep Sardesai is an editor-in-chief of his broadcasting company so his pay structure includes salary, perks, company stock value and performance based pay (reviewed annually).   TV channels earn through advertising (60 percent) and subscription revenue (40 percent). His monthly package is close to Rs.80 lakhs and his net worth is about Rs. 10 crores INR.

Rajdeep was slapped once

when PM Narendra Modi’s speech in Madison Square on 29th September 2014, Rajdeep Sardesai was manhandled by a crowd (allegedly Modi supporters) in New York. One of the modi supporters slap him and some of the onlookers alleged Rajdeep for provoking the crowd, a senior journalist at Dainik Bhaskar defended Rajdeep
