Rachel Held Evans, Christian Writer, Dies At 37

A progressive Christian author, Rachel Held Evans, whose writing challenged traditional evangelical views on politics, has died.

American Christian columnist, blogger, and author Rachel Held Evans, who was the role of women and LGBTQ members of the church, has died at the age of 37 on Saturday, 4th May.

Rachel, in her tweet in mid-April, revealed that she was hospitalized for a flu + UTI combo. She also explained that she had a severe allergic reaction to the antibiotics that the doctors gave her.

As per the updates posted online by her husband, Daniel Evans, Rachel was placed in medically induced coma after her brain started suffering constant seizures.

On Saturday, Daniel wrote that Rachel had experienced extensive blood swelling after she was weaned out of the coma. He continued writing: I keep hoping it's a nightmare from which I'll awake. I feel like I'm telling someone else's story.

Daniel thanked each and everyone who had prayed, donated money, and offered the family support. He then wrote:

Rachel's presence in this world was a gift to us all, and her work will long survive her.

Rachel, who was born in 1981 in Alabama, worked as a journalist and humor columnist after graduating from Bryan College in 2003.
