Pregnant Woman Found Dead In Rural Minnesota Woods Two Weeks After Reported Missing

Minnesota Police have recovered a dead body of a pregnant woman who was reported missing two weeks ago, in the rural Minnesota jungle.

According to KSTP 5, the body of 27-year-old Akeley-native Kara Blevins was found at around 8:15 pm Friday in a wooded area in Chippewas National Forest. The Cass County Sheriff Tom Burch said Belvins was reported missing on February 5.

Death are still under investigation 

Burch said the circumstances of her death are still under investigation and it is still unclear whether she was murdered or not.

Burch also disclosed the dead body is transferred to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner Office for postmortem.

Searching for Belvins shortly after she was reported missing

Local law enforcement said they started searching for Belvins shortly after she was reported missing. KSTP 5 reported the Hubbard County Sheriff's Office, Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, class County Sheriff's Office, the Minnesota State Patrol, Akeley Police Department, and other agencies are assisting the investigation.

Authorities have not yet disclosed what led the woman to death and they have yet to confirm how months pregnant she was at the time of her death.
