NYPD Officer Fatally Shot in the Bronx, Suspect Killed

A New York police officer shot fatally while inside the police vehicle in the Bronx has died early Wednesday, authorities say.

The New York Police commissioner called it an "unprovoked attacked", where the 48-aged Miosotis Familia, a 12-year experienced officer was shot. The victim taken to the St. Barnabas Hospital, is now declared dead.

The NYPD Commissioner O'Neill announced Miosotis' death through the called unprovoked attack in a tweet.

Reports say the officer was sitting in a marked NYPD command vehicle near the corner of East 183 Street and Creston Avenue, at around 12:30 in the Wednesday morning and a gunman shot her through the window.

Surveillance footage has shown the suspected 34-year-old shooter Alexander Bonds marching toward the command post. The suspect is also shot fatally while a bystander is hospitalized with a bullet wound, police said.
