PINK To Receive The Lifetime Achievement Award At The MTV VMAs
MTV announced Tuesday that the Pink will receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at this year’s VMAs. The singer will be presented with the honor during the Katy Perry-hosted ceremony, which is set for Sunday, Aug. 27 at The Forum in L.A.
The Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award rejoices an artist's contribution to pop culture and fashion, as well as music. P!nk has won six VMAs in her career, including the Video of the Year prize in 2001 for “Lady Marmalade.”
P!nk's influence can been seen today in the likes of Kesha, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga
The ‘Just Give Me a Reason’ singer also recently announced Beautiful Trauma, her sixth LP and the follow-up to 2012’s The Truth About Love. The album is set to release on Oct. 13.
Though MTV created the Vanguard award in 1984 and named it after the King of Pop in 1991, the network rarely awarded it in the ’00s. That’s changed of late: The past recipients of the award include Justin Timberlake (2013), Beyoncé (2014), Kanye West (2015), and Rihanna (2016).
