Patricia Bosworth Dies After Suffering Pneumonia Due to COVID-19

Patricia Bosworth, an actress best known for playing the role of a nun in Fred Zinnemann's 1959 cla s sic drama film, The Nun's Story, has died from novel coronavirus complications. She was 86.

The Actors Studio,  of which Bosworth was a member and board member for a long time, confirmed her death. The studio said that the actress and the author pa s sed away on Thursday, April 2, after suffering pneumonia due to the novel coronavirus.

Patricia Bosworth was born as Patricia Crum, April 24, 1933, Oakland, California, to Bartley Crum and Anna Gertrude Bosworth who were an attorney and a crime reporter/novelist respectively.

She had studied at Sarah Lawrence College and eloped with an art student, who later allegedly abused her because of which they ended their relationship after 16 months.

She had a younger brother who died by suicide.

Bosworth was initially a model for the John Robert Powers Agency and later in 1959, she was cast in The Nun's Story opposite Audrey Hepburn. The same day, she found out that she was pregnant. She then paid to have an illegal abortion.

Bosworth was married twice in her life: her first husband was Mel Arrighi (1966-86) and her second husband was Tom Palumbo (2002-08). She didn't have children.
