  • In a talk with The Guardian reporter, Alia told Hamza bin Laden, one of Osama's son married one of the 9/11 hijacker's daughter.
  • She also revealed that Hamza has not been in contact with the family since his father died in a US Navy's encounter on May 2, 2011.
  • Hamza, who was added to Specially Designated Global Terrorist list last year, has been speculated to be in Pakistan, however, Martin Chulov, The Guardian reporter said he might be living in Afghanistan.

Seven years after Osama bin Laden's murder, his mother, Alia Ghanem spoke to The Guardian reporter Martin Chulov where she disclosed about Laden's family.

Just days after the interview, reporter Chulov revealed that the family said Laden's son, Hamza bin Laden married the daughter of the destructive 9/11 hijacker's daughter.

The family revealed, Hamza, who has been remaining low key and out of the family's contact since his father's death on May 2, 2011, is believed to have married a daughter of Mohamed Atta, one of the hijackers of 9/11 attack.

Chulov talked to CBSN's Reena Ninan on Saturday where he said,

So what they would say is that 9/11 alumni remain very viable and very real even 17 years after the fact.

Hamza bin Laden, who has been added to a Specially Designated Global Terrorist list by State Department, has been speculated to be living in Pakistan, however, Chulov believes he is hiding in Afghanistan.

The State Department added Hamza to the terrorist list after he was "determined to have committed, or pose a serious risk of committing, acts of terrorism that threaten the security of U.S. nationals or the national security."

Alia told Chulov from her home in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia that her son was "pious and studious" child who lost his track at the university where according to her he was brainwashed by others.

Chulov also talked to some other relatives of Osama bin Laden-his half-brothers told their brother "chose his path," and when they saw the destructive images of the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, they had understood that it was their brother who was responsible for the attack.
