North Texas Woman Murders Her 9-Year-Old Niece

Mansfield police arrested a woman on suspicion of the murder of a 9-year-old girl over the weekend. The woman was identified as the child's aunt.
Police arrested the woman, Mercia Sneed, on Saturday on charges of Injury to a Child. Investigators believed the woman hurt the kid so badly that she went to cardiac arrest.
Police received an emergency call on Saturday, July 27, that reported a cardiac arrest at around 12:30 p.m in the 4200 block of Eagle Drive.
Paramedics gave CPR on the child while police were on the way. The girl, Melodi Sneed, was taken to the nearby hospital after police reached there. She was pronounced dead at the hospital.
According to the reports, the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's office ruled Melodi's death a murder.
After an in-depth investigation, the Mansfield police upgraded Sneed's charges to Capital Murder on Wednesday, 31st July. Sneed remains in custody in the Tarrant County jail.
