New Jersey Woman Arrested Over Sexual Assault And Murder Of An Elderly Woman Of Her Acquaintance

A New Jersey woman, 40, has been taken into custody after she called 911 confessing she killed a woman, 70. As the officers arrived at the apartment, they found a 70-year-old woman lying in a pool of blood.
According to an affidavit from detective Erik Larson, there was a knife, umbrella, drawer, and clothing at the crime scene. Authorities immediately contacted paramedics, who pronounced her dead at the scene.
Police arrested Caroline Beckert from the apartment and charged with first-degree murder, aggravated sexual a s sault and second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
Police said in a press release that Beckert fatally attacked the woman Joann Cullinan inside her home and robbed $15 in cash. They further said Beckert used the knife and the wooden drawer to stab Cullinan. Moreover, the a s sailant sexually a s saulted the woman with an umbrella.
According to the neighbors, Cullinan lived in the apartment with her adult son, however, it is unclear whether he was present at the apartment at the time of murder or not.
Caroline remains in custody without any bond.
