Texas Department Of Criminal Justice Seizes Nearly $18 Million Worth Cocaine

• The Texas Department of Criminal Justice has seized a heavy amount of drugs.
• The department recovered around $18 million worth cocaine of Friday while shipping bananas.
• The 540 packets of cocaine were discovered after 45 boxes of bananas, that were donated from Ports of America, were loaded.

A heavy amount of cocaine has been seized by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) during the shipment of bananas on Friday.

The Departement revealed that the cocaine recovered worth $18 million. Further, it confirmed that the discovery came after 45 boxes of bananas were donated to TDCJ from Ports of America in Freeport because they were too ripe.

Two sergeants from the Scott Unit had been loading the bananas while one of them realized something was wrong there. Then they looked inside where they found a bundle under the bananas of white powdery substance.

Afterward, the U.S. Customs arrived and tested the substance which showed a positive result for cocaine. Customs agents then searched all the boxes where they found another 540 packages of cocaine in total, an approximate worth of $17,820,000.

TDCJ took to Facebook to announce the capture where they wrote:

Sometimes, life gives you lemons. Sometimes, it gives you bananas. And sometimes, it gives you something you'd never expect!
