Narcos Location Manager Carlos Muñoz Portal Was Shot Fatally In Mexico

Narcos’ location manager, Carlos Muñoz Portal shot fatally in a town in Temascalapa, in a violent in central Mexico. Muñoz who was scouting out a rural part of Mexico to film the Netflix series’ next season found dead in his car on Monday.

The police found his body riddled with bullets on Monday. The Mexican authorities are reportedly investigating the case, and the case is getting complicated due to lack of witnesses.

Netflix has issued a statement paying their respects to Muñoz and his family. The statement released by the Netflix reads:

We are aware of the pa s sing of Carlos Muñoz Portal, a well-respected scout, and send our condolences to his family

The network also added the circ u mstances surrounding the death remain unclear.

The Attorney General of the State of Mexico’s spokesperson Claudio Barrera speculated the murderer might have thought he was collecting intel and followed him.  

As per NY Daily News, the car was found on an unknown dirt road in San Bartolo Actopan- around 400 miles south of the U.S. border in Laredo. The area is notorious for plagued with drug-related killings.

 

The LA Times reported that homicides due to Mexico’s drug war had reached the record level as more than 2,000 homicide investigations were opened in June only.

Portal worked with the entertainment industry as a location manager for over a decade which includes jobs on ‘Apocalypto’ and ‘Specter’- filmed in Zocalo, Mexico.
