American musician Tony Glover, who was a longtime friend of Bob Dylan and the one who taught harmonica to Mick Jagger, has died at the age of 79. He died on Wednesday, 29th May.

Sources have confirmed that Glover died of natural causes after being hospitalized earlier this month.

Glover, who was born on 7th October 1939, grew up listening to artists like Sonny Boy Williamson, Leadbelly, and Little Water. He made an impression on a generation of musicians as a member of the trio, Koerner, Ray and Glover.

The group that also included three albums in the early Sixties via Elektra; 1963’s Blues, Rags and Hollers, 1964’s Lots More Blues, Rags and Hollers, and 1965’s The Return of Koerner, Ray and Glover, became touchstones for artists like the Rolling Stones, the Beatles, Bonnie Raitt, the Doors, and many more.

Glover co-authored Blues with a Feeling: The Little Walter Story along with Ward Gaines and Scott Dirks which was published in 2002. He was also the author of numerous blues songbooks.

Besides his musical career, Glover was also a prolific rock critic writing articles for the Little Sandy Review, Hit Parader, Rolling Stone, Cream, Junior Scholastic, and many others.

Glover was extremely secretive regarding his personal life, including his relationship status, dating history, relationships, and affairs.
