Missing Michigan Teacher's Body Found After Husband Left Clue In A Note Before Suicide

The dead body of a missing Michigan teacher was found in a wooded area of Allegan County on Tuesday after her husband left a clue in a note before he took his own life in their home. 

After more than five months of investigation, police recovered the body of Theresa Lockhart, a 44-year-old high school Spanish teacher from Portage, Michigan, reported missing by officials at Schoolcraft Public Schools in May.

 

Her husband Christopher Lockhart, 47,  was found dead in their home shortly before 11  a.m. on Tuesday, Portage Department of Public Safety reported. Before he committed suicide he confessed killing her and left a hand-drawn map to where police could find her body- police said in a news conference Wednesday afternoon.

Nick Armold, director of the Portage Department of Public Safety, said,

Christopher, who had been a person of interest in her disappearance, left a note which led police to find her body in a part of the Allegan Game Area about 50 miles from the couple's Portage residence.

In the note, Christopher admitted killing wife after they argued and said he disposed of her body in the Allegan Game Area.
