The 43-year-old Canadian singer Buble announced that he would leave the music industry after his son's cancer battle. He said, his son's battle has given him a new perspective on life.
The singer announced his retirement in an interview with Daily Mail for the Saturday's issue. There he said,
I'm retiring from the business. I've made the perfect record and now I can leave at the very top.
Buble, who is preparing to release his new album Love is set to be released in November, talked about the trauma he endured while his son, Noah, battled liver cancer after his 2016 diagnosis. He said,
I don't even know how I was breathing. I didn't question who I was, I just questioned everything else.
The Grammy Award winner discussed the struggle of balancing his career and being a caretaker of his son. He further said the situation was like sweating things like ticket sales made him rethink his priorities. He said,
The diagnosis made me realize how stupid I'd been to worry about these unimportant things. I was embarra s sed by my ego, that it had allowed this insecurity.
He added,
And I decided I'd never read my name again in print, never read a review, and I never have. I decided I'd never use social media again, and I never have.
Singer Buble has been married to his wife, an Argentine actress Luisana Lopilato, since March 2011. In addition to Noah, the couple has two more children, son Elias, born in January 2016, and a daughter, Vida, whom they welcomed in July 2018.
