Mexican actress Edith Gonzalez has died. The Mexican telenovela actress Gonzalez died at the age of 54 three years after she was diagnosed with the fourth stage ovarian cancer.
The National Association of Actors announced her death revealing she died on Thursday, 13th June. Gonzalez had announced her diagnosis with cancer in 2016 with an Instagram post that showed her lying in a hospital bed.
Following the announcement, Gonzalez frequently spoke about her disease. In 2017, she said of her cancer, "I am not a warrior, I am a lover of life," in the feature of Hola! magazine ."
The late actress had her ovaries, uterus, and lymph nodes removed during her cancer treatments. Her cancer, which was said to be entered remission in 2017, returned this year.
Born and raised in Monterrey, Mexico, Gonzalez started her acting career as a child actor in the 1970s.
Gonzalez is known for her telenovela credits such as Corazon Salvaje, Doña Barbara, Palabra de Mujer, Mujer de Madera, and Eva la Trailera. Most recently, she became a judge of the Mexican reality show This Is My Style.
Besides her husband Lorenzo Lazo, Gonzalez is survived by her 14-year-old daughter Constanza from a previous relationship.
