To get Hope's Home built, Clayton promised a donation of $100 per strikeout recorded in 2011. With his career high of 248 strikeouts thrown at the 2011 season, Kershaw gave away $492,300 toward his $70,000 goal. Apart from that, Clayton donated $260,000 to Hope's Home when he received Players Choice Award in 2011.
In 2012, Clayton and his wife Ellen revisited Zambia and donated $100 for every strikeout in the season. They added more to Kershaw's Challenge calling that season "Strike Out To Serve.
