Lions QB's Wife, Kelly Stafford Returned Home After 12 Hours Brain Surgery.

  • Kelly Stafford underwent brain surgery for acoustic neuroma.
  • Last year, Kelly started suffering from vertigo spells.
  • Her surgery was supposed to be held for 6 hours, but it elongated after discovering an abnormal vein.

Wife of Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew StaffordKelly Stafford went home and is recovering following a 12-hour brain tumor surgery.

The 29 years old, Stafford took her Instagram account on the occasion of Easter to share the picture of her going back home from the hospital in a wheelchair. She also shares the video where she can be seen walking around the hospital with the help of her mother and husband.

She has captioned the image writing,

This Easter is the beginning of a new life for me. I wanna take a second to thank all of you for all the prayers. They have worked. I know they have.

She also added,

When they opened me up, I had an abnormal vein.. maybe abnormal for other neurosurgeons, but not the one We chose. He had seen it before and written a paper on it. That’s truly God’s work. The prayers for my family, I’m beyond thankful for. A six hour surgery went to 12 hours and although they were anxious and scared, your prayers got them through. Thank you. Thank you so much. Now I am home and learning my new norm. It’ll take some time, but I really just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for all your support, thoughts and prayers. It means more than y’all will ever know.

Early this month she revealed that she had an acoustic neuroma, a benign brain tumor. This tumor developed on the balance and auditory nerves which could also have led to hearing loss or imbalance.

After analyzing her tumor, the doctor said that she had to go through a 6-hour surgery but later on it extended to 12 hours after the doctor discovered an 'abnormal' vein. While revealing about her needs for surgery, Kelly said,

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t completely terrified of brain surgery. I am. I am terrified of them opening my head, I’m terrified of losing my hearing, I’m terrified of losing facial function, I’m terrified of far worse things that could happen and I’m terrified that I won’t take the time I need to recover because the guilt I might feel of being absent from my kids for too long.

Finally, Kelly Stafford is back home after the 12 hours of surgery. Hope she recovers soon!
