Comedian Bill Cosby Sentenced To Three To Ten Years In Prison For Sexual Assault

Veteran comedian Bill Cosby has been sentenced to 3 to 10 years in state prison for sexual a s sault. A judge in Pennsylvania announced the sentence on Tuesday, 25th September.

CNN reported Cosby was found guilty of three counts of aggravated indecent a s sault for drugging and sexually attacking Andrea Constand in 2004.

Cosby's request for the bail was denied and he was led out of the courtroom in handcuffs. Cosby was processed at the Montgomery Correctional Facility in Eagleville, Pennsylvania Tuesday afternoon. Cosby was also fined over $25,000 as the cost of prosecution.

Steven O'Neill, the Montgomery County, Pennsylvania judge said:

This was a serious crime. Mr. Cosby, this has all circled back to you. The day has come, the time has come.

Further, O'Neill ruled Cosby will be cla s sified as a "sexually violent predator," meaning he must have a lifetime registration and lifetime mandatory sex offender counseling with a treatment provider.

According to the Montgomery County public affairs manager, Corrie Emerson, Cosby was sentenced into Montgomery County Correctional Facility and will be transferred to SCI Phoenix,  a state prison in Collegeville soon.

According to the court papers, Cosby gave Constand pills to incapacitate her and a s saulted her. The girl reported the incident in police in 2005 but the prosecutors declined the allegations and settled the case in civil court in 2006.

Around a decade later in 2015, Constand a new team of prosecutors took up the case again and relying upon Constand and Cosby's statements in a civil deposition, police arrested Cosby in December 2015.
