Kellie Martin was born Kellie Noelle Martin on October 16, 1975, in Riverside, California, United States of America. She is the daughter of Dough Martin, a department store buyer and detail executive and Debbie (Jett), a kindergarten teacher. Her parents divorced in 1992. She had a younger sister, Heather, who unfortunately died in 1998 because of Lupus.
Martin attended Saybrook College and graduated from Yale University as an art history major in 2001.

Kellie Martin started her career at a young age. She was lucky enough to get an audition for the television show when she was just seven years old. Martin's aunt worked as a nanny for the actor Michael Landon's children. Because of Martin's aunt's relationship with Landon, she was able to secure an audition for Martin to land a guest spot on the Landon- produced series, Father Murphy.
Then a few years later, at the age of eleven, she was a contestant during Young People's Week on the television show, Card Sharks which was hosted by Bob Eubanks.
From that point, she went ahead to show up in reliable tv ventures and series of films which include A Pup Named Scooby-Doo, Highway to Heaven, Jumpin' Jack Flash, Body Slam, Charles in Charge, Mr. Belvedere and Baywatch.
Martin got a huge breakthrough, from the TV series, Life Goes On as Rebecca Thatcher in 1989. She appeared as a lead role in the series. After the show ended, she then starred on her own series, Christy in 1994. Afterward, she co-starred with Anthony Edwards on the hit show ER as a medical student.
In the 90s, Martin gave her voice to few iconic animated characters such as Roxanne in A Goofy Movie and Molly Tasmanian Devil in Taz-Mania.
Similarly, in 2003, Martin starred in the Lifetime movie Live Once, Die Twice, followed by No Brother of Mine in 2007. Also in 2009, she appeared in a guest role in Grey's Anatomy's episode No Good at Saying Sorry and in Ghost Whisperer's episode Stage Fright as Cally O'Keefe.
She then went on to make various movies for Lifetime and Hallmark. In 2016, Martin starred in a Hailey Dean Mystery as the protagonist Hailey Dean who solved the mysteries and in 2017, she appeared in the TBS comedy series The Guest Book as a police officer Kimberly Leahy.
Throughout her career, Martin has won various awards including Young Artist Awards two times, Screen Actors Guild, Viewers for Quality Television and nominated for Emmy Awards.
