Jose Arredondo, a Bakersfield, California car dealer and the father of well-known K-pop singer Samuel was found dead in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
Arredondo was found dead in his home in the popular resort town this week. He had immigrated to the United States from Mexico in the 1970s.
Though the official report on Arredondo's death is yet to come, Baja California Sur state prosecutors said his body showed signs of "blunt force trauma." The investigators called the incident a home invasion.
According to Tribunal de Los Cabos, Arredondo was found lying on the floor with several knife-inflicted injuries in his back.
"We are closely monitoring local authorities," a United States State Department official said.
His son Samuel, who was born in Los Angeles as Samuel Kim Arredondo currently resides in South Korea and is a K-pop singer who goes by the nickname "Punch." He released his debut album in 2017.
Before, he had appeared in his father's car dealership commercials as a child and later he went on to perform as part of the duo 1Punch.
