Joss Ackland's Career
At the 17 Ackland made his professional stage debut in The Hasty Heart. In 1957, he appeared in TV series Destination Downing Street. The other famous TV series on which he appeared were The Indian Tales of Rudyard Kipling (1963), Mystery and Imagination (1966), Before the Party (1969), Hitler: The Last Ten Days (1973), White Mischief (1987) and A Woman Named Jackie (1991).
Ackland made his big screen debut from 1949's British war film Landfall. Joss Ackland is a widower. He previously married to Rosemary Kirkcaldy from 1951 to until her death in 2002. On August 1951, Ackland and his former wife were married at the age of 23 and 22 respectively.
The ex-couple Joss and Rosemary were happily married for fifty-one years. They have seven children and 32 grandchildren. His eldest son Paul died in 1982 due to a heroin overdose. Later, at the age of seventy-two, he lost his wife because of motor neuron disease and died 25 July 2002.
