Synopsis

Jon Montgomery is a Canadian Skeleton racer as well as a television host. He won the gold medal in the men’s skeleton event at the Winter Olympics in 2010.

Similarly, at the 2008 FIBT World Championships in Altenberg, Germany, Montgomery won two silver medals.

Early life and Career

Jon Montgomery was born as Jonathan Riley Montgomery on 6 May 1979 in Russell, Manitoba. He belongs to white ethnicity and holds a Canadian nationality.

Montgomery is born to Joan and Eldon Montgomery. He has two sisters, named Joan and Jill. Although much of his educational background and qualifications are unknown, he is known for his sports career. 

Montgomery began skeleton racing when he lived in Calgary where he worked as an auctioneer not far from Canada Olympic Park.

In the year 2002, Montgomery visited a track where a skeleton race was being held. He was immediately hooked on the sport and started racing competitively not long after watching it in Calgary.

Montgomery won his first World Cup race later in Cesena, Italy, in 2008.  The same year, he also won two silver medals at the 2008 FIBT World Championships in Altenberg, Germany.

Montgomery qualified for the 2010 Winter Olympics based on his results in the 2009-10 Skeleton World Cup. During the time in the Olympic event, he established the fastest times, including a track record of 52.20 on his third run.

In 2011, Montgomery won a bronze medal the 2011 FIBT World Championships as a mixed team. On June 5, 2013, it was announced that Montgomery would be the host of CTV’s The Amazing Race Canada.

A year later, he failed to qualify for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. Montgomery announced that he is “99 per cent sure” his skeleton career is over.

In September 2015, Montgomery finished his third year as the show’s host and returned for the fourth year.

Personal life

Jon Montgomery married to the love of his life, Darla Deschamps, who is also a talented skeleton athlete. The couple got married on August 6, 2011, in a romantic wedding ceremony at a vineyard near Kelowna, B.C. 

Before getting married, they dated for several years. The duo first met at the sliding track's start house at Canada Olympic Park in 2005.

Till date, they don't have any children and living a blissful married life. There are no rumors about his past affair.
