A retired British track field athlete, Jessica Ennis, is addressed as Britain’s most valuable female Olympian. She began her career at a very early age. However, she started playing internationally since 2003 & won her first world championship title in 2009.

Early life & education
Jessica Ennis-Hill was born by her birth name Dame Jessica Ennis in Sheffield, Yorkshire on 28th January 1986. She is British & belongs to a mixed ethnic background.
Jessica is born to English mother, Alison Powell, a social worker from Derbyshire and Vinnie Ennis, a Jamaican self-employed painter & decorator. She has a younger sister, Carmel.
Jessica went to Sharrow Primary School & King Ecgbert School in Dore where she obtained General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE). After that, she earned a degree in psychology from the University of Sheffield.
Jessica was introduced to athletics by her parents after she was taken to a Start: Track event at the Sheffield’s Don Valley Stadium during her summer holidays.
Right there, Jessica won her first athletics prize & also got a chance to meet Toni Minichiello who became her coach afterward.
After that, Jessica joined the City of Sheffield & Dearne Athletic Club from where she participated in a high jump competition at the Sheffield athlete organized by National Schools Championships where she won School Sports Witham Award for the best performance.
Moreover, Jessica gained individual javelin coaching from the World Champion bronze medalist & European Champion silver medalist, Mick Hill. In 1999, she competed in high jump at English Schools AAA Junior Girls and won the game.
In the year 2002, Jessica participated in the high jump organized by English Schools AAA Intermediate section and became a runner-up. Also, she grew successful to establish herself as a top junior athlete at AAA U20 Championship.
Career
Since 2003, Jessica Ennis-Hill started to play internationally for World Youth Championship held in Canada where she secured the 5th position. Later, she participated in 2004 World Junior Championship, standing at the 8th position followed by European Junior Championships winning a gold medal in 2005.
After that, Jessica competed in 2007 European Cup where she reached first for the second time in the same year. In the same year, Jessica also participated in the World Championships in Japan placing the fourth position & in Combined Events Challenge with the second position.
The year 2008 was one of the worst years for her. Jessica faced a significant stress fracture in her right foot due to which she missed Olympics & had to take a complete rest in the season.
After healing from the injury, Jessica made a comeback in 2009 by winning her first world championship participating in the World Championships in Heptathlon.
In the same year, Jessica gained her second world title of World Indoor Championship held in Germany. Apart from the world championship, she also won a UK Championships in 100m hurdle & high jump.
In the year 2010, Jessica again participated in the World Indoor Championships, Hypo-Meeting & European Championships and won all the games.
The same year, she also won a UK Championships in the high jump but did not gain success in other categories.
In 2012, Jessica began to participate in Olympic Games. She won both the Summer Olympics & Hypo-Meeting and also secured second place in World Indoor Championships.
The very year, Jessica won UK Championships in 60m hurdles & high jump in Indoor Trail and also Summer Olympics Trial. At the time, she set the British record of 12.54 seconds in the hurdles & made a personal best of 22.83 seconds in hurdle which helped her to maintain her place.
After that for almost two years, Jessica faced injury & took a break from the games. She was even pregnant at that time and decided to take a leave. Two years after in 2015, Jessica again made a comeback winning another World Championship held in a China with a gold medal.
In 2016, Jessica took part in the Summer Olympics & stood second with silver medal whereas secured first in Combined Events Challenge. That year, she even declared her retirement from Olympics as she was more focused on her motherhood.
In early 2017, Jessica was appointed as DBE (Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire) in the New Year Honors for athletics service. In the same year, she stood second with the silver medal in the world championship.
Personal life
Jessica dated her high-school sweetheart, Andy Hill and married in May 2013 in an intimate ceremony in the Peak District.
The ceremony was attended by almost more than 100 guests where the bride was looking beautiful in her sleeveless ivory silk gown with the ruffled skirt.
Some years after the marriage, the pair announced that they are expecting their first child due to which Jessica missed her first Olympic games. After that on 17th July 2014, she gave birth to her son, Reggie Ennis-Hill. The news was announced from her Twitter account.
As of 2017, Jessica again announced her second pregnancy via social media with a caption,
‘’Someone’s going to be a big brother. Another little Ennis-Hill on the way.’’
A few months later, the duo welcomed their second baby child in September & named her Olivia Ennis-Hills.
