Jealous Boyfriend, Who Bludgeoned His Girlfriend To Death In Sleep, To Spend Life Behind Bars

by Joey Jordan,

A Delaware man gets life in prison for bludgeoning his girlfriend to death while asleep in 2016. Steven Pierce, 45, was sentenced to life in prison and 25 additional years last week after his conviction in April.

Pierce beat his then-girlfriend, Heather Stamper in anger of jealousy that she had talked to her ex-boyfriend. Pierce was also found guilty on possession of a deadly weapon at the time of the murder.

Delaware's Department of Justice released a statement saying:

Investigators found Pierce became jealous believing that Stamper, 31, of Delaware City, was speaking to an old boyfriend.

The statement also reported the couple had broken up just before the murder, which probably made him believe that Stamper had been in contact with her ex-boyfriend.

Authorities revealed Stamper died from the blunt force trauma. Pierce was arrested a day after the murder following he reported discovering her with her wrists cut. People reported Pierce went to a friend's house and discussed his crime and the potential punishment hours after he killed his girlfriend.
