The singer and co-founder of Alabama 3, Jake Black, has died. The English-acid house band, best known for their song Woke Up This Morning, broke the sad news on its official Facebook page on Tuesday. There is no official news regarding the cause of his death.
The Facebook post began claiming that Jake Black AKA The Very Reverend D. Wayne Love pa s sed over to the higher ground earlier that afternoon. The post continued:
After a magnificent performance at the Highpoint Festival in Lancashire, D.Wayne in his supreme wisdom decided it was the appropriate moment for his ascencion into the next level.
As per the post, Jake was surrounded by his brothers Larry Love, The Spirit, L.B. Dope. Jonny Jamm and sister Therese Mullan.
Stating heartbroken in the post, the band then announced that they will now be carrying out his precise instructions regarding the continuation of his teachings as a First Minister of The Presleyterian Church of Elvis The Divine and continue The Great Work.
The post was ended with Jack’s final words writing “Tweet Tweet, Possil Fleet', which the band has yet to decipher.”
Alabama 3 was formed back in 1995 in the Brixton section of London, England, when Jack met Rob Spragg AKA Larry Love at an acid house party. They pretty soon teamed up with the idea to create a sound that mixed the county music with acid house.
Adding their unique sound, they went on to incorporate touches of gospel, dance beats, and slide guitar. The band’s last release was Blues in 2016.
