The veteran radio DJ Humble Harve Miller, whose career spanned for over six decades, has died Tuesday in Camarillo. He was 84 years old. His wife, Serena Miller, confirmed his death news.

According to his wife, Serena, Harve battled with diabetes and cellulitis and was in hospice care when he pa s sed away.

Harve, who had worked with at least nineteen stations throughout his life, came into the spotlight while working at KHJ-AM (930) in Los Angeles during the peak of its “Boss Radio” format which changed the sound and content of pop radio in the 1960s.

Harve, who is widely known as the BOSS JACK, ruled the pop waves of L.A. for years before starting his illustrious career back in 1958 at the radio station, WAAT-AM in Trenton, NJ.

Throughout the years, Harve worked for various radio stations like KIQQ, KRTH, KUTE, KCBS-FM, KBLA-AM, KHJ, KIIS, and KRLA. Besides this, he had also worked for WIBG in Philadelphia and KVI in Seattle.

However, Harve’s six-decade-long career was marred by the shooting death of his wife, Mary Gladys Miller in 1971. He plead guilty and went to prison.

His lawyer claimed that Mary pulled a gun on him, and when he tried to take it from her, the gun discharged firing to her chest. He then resumed the place behind the microphone for more than four decades.

Besides disc jockey career, Harve even appeared in two movies; The Hollywood Knights and There Goes My Baby.
