Forty-five years old Broadway actor Harlan Bengel was found dead in the Central Park of an apparent suicide by hanging. On May 3, his body was found by a pa s serby at around 5:50 am. A close source revealed that Harlan was hanging from the Winterdale Arch with a plastic bag over his head.
Harlan lived on the Upper West Side, a short distance from where he died of hanging.
The cops have found a note on Harlan directing whoever found him to call a specific person at the given number, but the police did not disclose the name of the contact.
One of the neighbors who asked not to disclose the name said that Harlan was a good guy, talented actor, and dancer. He also added that Harlan and his wife remained very close even after divorce.
Harlan has appeared as a dancer and a slave master in Phantom of the Opera in the year 2011. In the following year, he played dual roles of Joey and Topthorn in War Horse.
