Frank Turner was born Francis Edward Turner on December 28, 1981. The 38-year-old was born in Bahrain to investment banker Roger Cunliffe Turner and Jane Cartwright. His family moved back to England, where he was raised in Meonstoke. Frank attended the all-boys boarding preparatory school Summer Fields in Summertown, Oxford. He received a scholarship to study at Eton College before enrolling at the London School of Economics, where he studied History.
Career
Frank Turner had begun producing music while at school as part of the alternative-rock band Kneejerk. When the band disbanded, Turner joined the post-hardcore band Million Dead in 2001, featuring former Kneejerk drummer Ben Dawson.
The band released two studio albums: 2003's A Song to Ruin and 2005's Harmony No Harmony as well as seven singles.
Million Dead went defunct shortly after their second studio album was released in 2005. Turner had already ventured as a solo artist while performing for Million Dead. After the band dissolved, Turner began touring and performing as a solo artist.
As a solo artist, Turner has released eight studio albums; namely, 2007's Sleep Is for the Week, 2008's Love Ire & Song, 2009's Poetry of the Deed, 2011's England Keep My Bones, 2013's Tape Deck Heart, 2015's Positive Songs for Negative People, 2018's Be More Kind, and 2019's No Man's Land.
Additionally, he has released five EPs, and four rarities compilation albums, and one "best of" album.
Turner has authored two books to date: 2015's The Road Beneath My Feet and 2019's Try This At Home: Adventures in Songwriting.
