Fox News' Laura Ingraham Asks Congressional 'Old Timers' Retire Following Sexual Misconduct Claims

by Riya,

Laura Ingraham, Fox News host called on ‘’old timers’’ congressional to retire. She voiced her opinion on her show ‘’The Ingraham Angle’’ on Tuesday as a response to Capitol Hill engorging with sexual a s sault allegations.
Ingraham said,

If we want to end the corruption, and move legislation on Capitol Hill, we need the old timers to do the decent thing and begin to retire!

The Fox News anchor went on to say,

They’re just looking to cover themselves, and representatives, well, they settle into their positions of power and year after year, term after term, they tune out their constituents. And pretty soon, they’re taking orders from the swamp rather than the people.

Continuing with her distraught Ingraham said,

John Conyers [Jr.] is the most potent example. The congressman — who has just been charged this week with sexual hara s sment by two women so far in two days — is 88 years old. He has held his congressional seat for 52 years.

Ingraham's response came a day later Conyers revealed he settled a former female employee’s claim of sexual misconduct against him in 2015 to avoid litigation.
Conyers released a statement earlier saying

My office resolved the allegations — with an express denial of liability — in order to save all involved from the rigors of protracted litigation.

His statement continued

There are statutory requirements of confidentiality that apply to both the employee and me regarding this matter.

Earlier this month, Rep, Jackie Speier revealed that the House has spent $15 million over the last decade in hara s sment settlement claims. A spokesperson later shed more light on the matter saying that the figure accounts for more than just sexual hara s sment claims.

Conyers is not the only lawmaker to come under scrutiny for claims of sexual misconductDemocraticic Sen. Al Franken is also facing the heat for sexual misconduct against two women in addition to the groping scandal he was already facing.
Republican former Alabama State Judge Roy Moore has also come under a lot of scrutinies following sexual misconduct claims for numerous women.
